Sebastian Milito

The layout and general style of Sebastian Milito’s website sets out a simple yet effective way of presenting photographic imagery. The use of black for the background of all pages of the site means the images stand out more so compared to having a white background, making them eye-catching for the viewer. What also drew my attention to this website was the little use of text. Being a photography based artist, having lots of block text amongst lots of images would be too much for the viewer to take in at once, so by removing mass blocks of text, the images can be focused on without distraction.

By having a drop down menu off each of the main headings (at the top of the screen) means the separate series’ of work don’t clutter up the home page/pages.

What is made obvious is the variety in his work – He presents a wide selection of images, showing the viewer that he is a versatile artist who isn’t limited to one particular way of working.

Having a large image slider on the homepage that takes up the majority of the screen, automatically draws the viewer’s eye to Milito’s photography. From drawing the viewer’s attention to this, they are engaged with the work before having to manually find images of the work, and are also intrigued to see more of the artist’s work after being shown a small example on entrance to the site.
